–  Motion to  amend Royal City Local 740 By-Law #6.02 (a), 6.03 (a), and 6.04 (a)

President full time officer to part time officer for the remaining of the fiscal year.

6.02 The President shall:

(a) Be an elected officer and be a full time officer of the Local, and be at the highest maximum rate not to exceed 106% of a PO External 3; however in the event that the incumbent of the position was receiving a salary that was higher while in the bargaining unit, that salary level will be maintained.

6.03 The Vice – President shall:

(a) Be an elected officer of the Local

6.04 The Grievance Officer:

(a) Be an elected officer of the Local

Whereas the LEC ( Local Executive Committee ) has concluded that the cost of paying the amount of the full time president’s benefits, ( Annuals, personaldays &pension ) is too high

And

Whereas the LEC ( Local Executive Committee ) has concluded, it would be better for Canada Post Corporation to cover the cost of of all the benefits,

And

Whereas the LEC ( Local Executive Committee ) concluded that the Local membership would be better served by budgeting the money on said benefits for Local Education,

And

Whereas the LEC ( L ocal Executive Committee ) has concluded that it can better represent and serve the Local membership  by having a Part time President, Part time Vice – President, Part time Sec- Treasurer & Part time Grievance Officer Executive members rotating in the Union Office instead of a full time President and 1 part time officer,

And

Whereas the advocacy work is not assigned to any particular position, the LEC ( Local Executive Committee )  concludes that flexibility in thsi area is important,

Therefore be it resolved that Section 6.02 (a) of the Local By-Laws shall read,

(a) The President shall be an elected and tabled paid Part time Officer of the Local entitled to a minimum of 20 hours per week or equivalent on a monthly basis as regulated by the Local budegt, The President shall be paid at the highest maximum rate not to exceed 106% of a PO External 3; however in the event that the incumbent of the position was receiving asalary that was higgher while in the bargaining unit, that the salary level will be maintained.

Be it further resolved, that Section 6.03 (a) of the Local By- Laws shall read

(a) Be an elected & tabled Part Time Officer of the Local;

Be it further resolved, that Section 6.04 (a) of the Local By-Laws shall read,

(a) be an elected & tabled Part time Officer of the Local entitled to a minimum of 20 hours per week or equivalent on a monthly basis as regulated by the Local budget.
