Pay Increments Update

On February 6th, 2019, the Canadian Union f Postal Workers posted a Bulletin (#492) to inform members that Canada Post has been incorrectly calculating pay increments for Indeterminate Members. Most likely affected are those hired on/or after February 1st, 2013 and who received a promotion, eg. Going from Letter carrier (LC) / PO4 to Relief Letter Carrier (RLC ) positions.

Canada Post has started correcting their mistake but many people are still getting the incorrect wage. Access HR now has a team who is aware of this situation and should be able to correct the situation. If you believe you are still not getting the proper wage:

  • Email Access HR ( mailto:accesshr@canadapost.ca ), inform them that you did not get the proper wage increase when you received a promotion ( RLC position ). They should provide you with a case # and if applicable, update your wage and provide you with a retroactive payment from August 1st, 2018.

If AccessHR provides you with information that doesn’t seem accurate, please forward us their reply and we will determine if we should file a grievance. It seems that there may be mistakes in proper wage payment for those who moved back from RLC to LC / PO4.

Based on the orginal intenet of Art. 35.08 Promotion vs Demotion, we believe the following example should apply to demotion from RLC to LC / PO4:

Letter Carrier / PO4 ( base wage ) promoted to RLC should receive pay increment of 1 level up, to    YR 1 RLC RLC wage, with a change in your anniversary date as per art. 35.08.

Demotion from RLC year 1 to RLC / PO4 should then receive wage for LC / PO4 Year 1.

If you have a pending a grievance on this issue, The National Union Grievance department will be handling your grievance and will determine if you are owed retroactive payment beyond August 1st, 2018.

Please feel free to contact us if you need further assistance.
