The Appendix “T” Working Committee continues to meet regularly with CPC to discuss expanding Canada Post’s financial services offerings to the public. Since our last bulletin, we have made progress on several fronts:

  • Site Selection: A total of 26 CUPW retail locations across two test regions have been selected to take part in the market test of expanded financial services launching in September and October of this year. A national rollout will rely on the success of the market test and pilot. Success will be measured by an established metric agreed to by the parties. Pilots are set to begin in fall 2021, and, if the tests are successful, subsequent implementation measures would begin early in 2022.
  • CUPW Member Expertise: Through the Appendix “T” fund, the parties have agreed to assign a CUPW retail clerk as a subject matter expert to support the Corporation’s Business Delivery team overseeing the roll out of the new services. The CUPW representative will ensure the union has a strong voice when it comes to the training of retail clerks, ensuring the union can identify health and safety issues and participate in developing the content of the expanded services.
  • Announcement coming in August: Canada Post has shared details of its internal and external communications plans in preparation for the pilot launch while seeking CUPW’s input on content and approach. In early August, alongside CUPW, CPAA, and the financial services partner, Canada Post will communicate more details about the new services to Canada Post workers and the public.

Once again, the Appendix “T” Committee wants to acknowledge the dedication and energy of the many CUPW activists who have made this progress possible!
