Reminder

CUPW members covered by the Canada Post Extended Health Benefits plan may want to purchase new eye glasses by December 31, 2022.

The vision portion of our Canada Post Extended Health Plan runs on a set four-year period. The current four year period expires on December 31, 2022. A new four-year period begins on January 1, 2023.

The money from the current period evaporates on December 31, 2022. If you or the people you cover have not used your full entitlement you may want to use it before December 31, 2022. It does not rollover.

The vision and hearing plan covers you as the worker and anyone you cover. This could include your spouse, and your children who are under 19 years of age or who are over 19 and are attending a post secondary institution full time.

The amount for glasses comes from two of our different plans. The four-year period expires on the same date for both of these plans. The first plan is under the Canada Post Extended Health Plan. It is for a reimbursement of 80% for up to $400. The second plan is under our supplementary hearing and vision plan. It is for a flat $300.

This means that you and every person you cover are each covered for up to $620.00 for glasses every four years.

You could get new glasses by December 31, 2022 and another set of new glasses in anytime in 2023, 2024, 2025, and 2026.
