Ratification votes to renew the Urban and RSMC collective agreements began earlier this month and continue until September 3.

To help workers make an informed decision, the Union produced materials and information, including Perspectivebulletins, and fact sheets, explaining the Urban and RSMC contract renewals.

To ensure the health and safety of members, and to respect COVID-19 restrictions, Local executives, in collaboration with the National and Regional Office, organized virtual ratification vote meetings for the first time.

It’s been a massive undertaking in a short period of time.

The rest is now in your hands. It’s up to you to exercise your democratic right to vote on your contracts.

You have the power to decide on whether or not to accept the contract renewal. This decision will have an impact not only on your work life, but on the working conditions of all CUPW members. This is your life: take the time to participate and decide what’s best for you.

Remember that CUPW referendums are decided by the people who attend ratification meetings and vote. If you don’t attend the ratification meeting, and if you don’t vote, you are allowing someone else to make decisions for you. Your power lies in your vote.

Voting is the strongest way to express your opinion. You may participate in vibrant and engaging conversations in the workplace or on social media, but the clearest, most convincing argument you can make is through your vote. It has an impact beyond any conversation.

CUPW is a democratic union built on the strength of the membership. The results of this vote will help guide the work of the union because it is you – the membership – who provide us with a mandate.

All of the information regarding the ratification vote is found on the CUPW website: https://www.cupw.ca/en/collective-agreements/ratification-vote-tentative-agreements-extend-contracts

On this page, you will find links to the tabloid, fact sheets and bulletins, as well as the tentative Memorandum of Agreements. You will also find the latest ratification vote meeting schedule as well as instructions on how to update your information to ensure you can vote.

Remember to sign up for E-digest to ensure you won’t miss any information. With E-digest, bulletins will be emailed to you directly every Friday.

The power lies with you. Vote!
